You can check the newspaper for lists of auctions for impounds or government repossessions. These types of auctions can yield high-end quality, for low-end costs. Other sources include contacting the banks in your area to see if they are holding any auctions, or to check the Internet media for government liquidations and other assorted auctions. Once you find an auction site in your area contact them to see if they have the type of car that you’re looking for, and any information about the car you can get, such as the VIN, year, make, model, and mileage.
At these auctions you may see business men or car dealers, and they are there for the same reason you are. They want a cheap used car, except they aren’t going to use it, they just plan to fix the car up a little bit, and resell it to the people that didn’t read this article. Going to the auctions yourself may be a little time consuming, but it will cut out the middle man and tends to be the cheapest available opportunity for purchasing a used automobile. Just remember you can find great deals on used cars outside of the auction market as well, so once again, don’t be too hasty and shop around.
